My Story / A történetem
How did I get here then? How did I end up studying in such a beautiful country?
Well, it all started in high school, when it was about time to choose the next step: university. Which ultimately defines your job and your whole life later. If not the subject you're studying, the people you're surrounded with, who influence you. And in my case, a new culture. And with that, a new language, new challenges all on my own.
It was quite hard for me to decide what and where to study. I knew, what I did not want to do, but that's just the easy part, right? We all know the basic jobs - doctor, engineer, IT and so on - that your parents want you to do or your teachers tell you about, but what about the other ones? The interesting ones or the unusual ones? You can't really choose a profession if you don't know the possibilities. And that's the problem. They won't tell you about them, you have to figure it out by yourself - unless of course you want to be a doctor.
So firs I decided where I want to study. I always knew, that I probably won't end up studying in Hungary just because the education system sucks. And curiosity was driving me.
I wanted to study in English as I liked it so much more than German. Than I saw, that one of my acquaintances studies in Edinburgh, so I started to look up the universities and possible majors there. By the time, I knew that I would either like to to something with languages or marketing. And... I've found the perfect one, that has both of them! It felt like I really did find a course that I'd like so I ended up applying. The process was a bit complicated - especially if you compare it to the Hungarian one, that I managed to do in just a few minutes. Here, you had to do a lot of things, like upload a language exam, a reference and so on.
I also applied to universities in Hungary just in case it does not work out or I won't like it - thank god I did not need that :D
After the application process, I had to meet a certain criteria of grades, which was honestly easier then in Hungary and you would probably get a better job. And it was time for the school leaving exam, which you're sooo stressed about cause everyone says how hard it's gonna be and you HAVE to get a good grade to go to a good university, but in the end.. it's not bad at all! If you study enough and think you're ready, just trust yourself, because it's really not as bad as they say it is. I actually found it surprisingly easy.
At around mid-summer, I've finally found out that I'll go to Scotland! Yay! So I packed my stuff in three huge suitcases and travelled across the sea with my family to start a new chapter of my life!
/That sums up pretty much how I've got here. If you want to read it in Hungarian, just let me know so I can translate it for yous./
And as always, I'm open for suggestions regarding the posts. What do you want to see next?
Stay safe,
